Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the BikeShed iOS app (“the app,” “we,” “our”). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
These Terms incorporate, and are in addition to, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). Where these Terms and the Standard EULA conflict, the term that is more protective of you, the user, applies.
1. The app
BikeShed helps you track your bikes, their components, service history, and rides. Your data is stored on your device and syncs to your own private iCloud. There are no accounts to create. How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter, including service records, mileage, and maintenance intervals.
- BikeShed’s maintenance reminders, wear estimates, and lifespan figures are informational estimates only. They are not professional mechanical advice. Always have safety-critical work (brakes, drivetrain, frame, suspension) inspected and performed by a qualified bicycle mechanic. You are responsible for your bike’s condition and safety.
- You agree not to misuse the app, reverse-engineer it except as permitted by law, or use it to violate the rights of others or any applicable law.
3. Purchases, subscriptions, and trials
BikeShed is free to download and includes a free trial period during which all features are unlocked. It offers an optional paid upgrade (“Premium”) via Apple’s In-App Purchase, as either an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal: A subscription automatically renews for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Managing and cancelling: You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period continues until it ends.
- Lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase tied to your Apple Account and shareable with your Family Sharing group.
- Restoring purchases: Use Restore Purchases in the app to re-apply a prior purchase on a new device signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies; we cannot issue refunds directly. Request refunds through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- Your existing bike data remains free to view and export regardless of your plan.
4. Third-party services
If you connect a third-party service such as Ride with GPS or Apple Health, your use of that service is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or the accuracy of data they provide. “Ride with GPS” and related marks are the property of their respective owners; their use in the app does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
5. Intellectual property
The app, its design, and its content (excluding your data and third-party marks) are owned by us and protected by law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app, consistent with the Standard EULA and the App Store Terms of Service.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data sync will always succeed. You are responsible for keeping your own backups (e.g. via Settings → Export Data).
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, surfaced in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights.
